My background ---
I was born in Highland Park Michigan (downtown Detroit) in Sept. 1964 and moved to Honor Michigan when I was 9 months old.
I lived in Honor until I left for college. I attended Platte River Elementary (K 2, 5-7) and Crystal Lake (3,4) and
attended Benzie Central High School. Played basketball, football and ran track in high school, had some great team-mates.
Went to Kalamazoo College for undergraudate, majored in Chemistry and Mathematics earning BA's in both in 1986. Did
undergraduate research with Tom Smith working on molybdenum complexes and Richard Cook on natural spice extracts.
Left for Wayne State University, and finished a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry in 1991 working for Richard Lintvedt on
Osmium - Oxygen Atom Transfer Reactions. From 1991-1993 I was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Georgia
working with Donald Kurtz on synthetic models for the oxygen transport protein hemocyanin.
In 1993 I joined the faculty at Armstrong Atlantic State University and have been here since. I am an Associate Professor
of Chemistry and am involved in a number of undergraduate research projects. Professionally, I am the councilor for the
Coastal Georgia Section of the American Chemical Society and serve on the ACS Local Section Activities Committee. I am
also the Faculty Athletics Representative for AASU to the NCAA.
Persoally, in 1993 I married Adrienne Marie Potts in Orlando Florida. I met her in Detroit while she was visiting her relatives.
She is a Physican Assistant for SouthCoast Orthopaedics in Savannah and a 1992 graduate of the University of Florida and a
big GATOR FAN!!!!!!! She was born in Royal Oak Michigan and moved to Hollywood Florida when she was young. She went
to elementary school at Nativity and then her family moved to Orlando in 1982 and she finished high school at Bishop Moore. We moved
to Savannah in 1993 and have lived on E. 49th Street since. We are daily grateful to belong to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. On Dec.
24th, 1999 our first daughter was born, Genevieve Lucille and on March 1st, 2002 our second daughter Sheridan Kathryn was born.
